Loads of sheep, meadows and rain – that’s what most of us immediately associate with Ireland, right? During our one-week stay, from the 1st to the 8th of July, we experienced all these things mentioned above, but luckily even more.
From a city tour through lovely Galway, a small city in the west of Ireland, over a trip to Wicklow mountains and Glendalough, where the beauty of Upper and Lower lake fascinated many visitors, to Cliffs of Moher, stunning cliffs in the west of Ireland, where the infinity of the sea seemed to be real, we visited many amazing places and some of us really fell in love with this green island.
But also Dublin itself was a really nice place. The uniformity of the houses was created by the red bricks but the differently coloured front doors made every house special again. With many pubs and shops, Butler’s chocolate factory, Trinity College and Book of Kells and Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin attracts many tourists, for example the students and teachers from WRG Wels J.
Having stayed at host families, they tried to create a home away from home and told us lots of interesting facts and stories about Ireland. Even though some of them weren’t that used to the public transport system of Dublin, everyone got from and to Atlas Language School safely.
All in all, this week was a great experience that will definitively stay with us. The warm-hearted Irish people approached us with such a friendliness and helpfulness, making it even harder for us to leave Ireland again. Having started our trip with a few days of sun and Irish heatwave, we left with clouds in the sky and some rain over the last few days.
